§ 1.14.010. Purpose and intent.

The enforcement of the city's municipal code is vital to the protection of the public's health, safety and quality of life. Under Government Code Section 53069.4, the city is authorized to adopt an administrative citation and civil fine program, which offers an alternative method of enforcement of violations of the municipal code. The purpose of issuing administrative citations pursuant to this chapter is to encourage compliance with the provisions of this code and to provide a method of holding persons responsible when they fail or refuse to comply with the provisions of this code. The use of this chapter is also intended to minimize the expense and delay associated with pursuing code violations through the civil or criminal justice system.
